Booty Blast


I don’t think that I have ever received as many compliments on my derrière as I have this past year. As a former 104 pound cardio bunny, I actually have never cared about how big, perky or plump my bum was. I personally have no problem with my butt small or slightly more enlarged. However if you’re looking for some moves to perk that booty up here are some of my favourites.


  1. Stairs, Stairs & More Stairs – cardio & booty in one? SOLD. I spend a lot of my time on the StairMaster. Obsessed is a light phrase. I can catch up on e-mails, Instagram, find new music; I’ve even read a book! I also have a fond appreciation for the Memorial Stairs here in Calgary. In the winter I run the stairs at my work, I used to run the 11 floors at my post-secondary – pretty much what I am trying to say is, there are stairs EVERYWHERE. Don’t be afraid to switch it up, jump squat, donkey kicks, HIIT, use a weighted bar and walk them. I find the more you can switch it up the less chance you’ll get bored, maybe even the time will go by a bit faster!


  1. Squats – whatever you do just squat. Just please make sure you’re squatting right!



  1. Lunges – I have a strong dislike for these, but often what you hate ends up being what you need to do, right?


  1. Donkey Kicks & Pushbacks – I’ve learned how to slowly modify these as I’ve progressed. I know do them weighted with hand weights, cables and machines.


I don’t think I can stress enough how important proper form is. Remember it is better to do one squat with proper form than one hundred without proper form.
